LOVES PARK, IL : Cherry Valley woman killed in 2-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 near Rock Cut State Park on Saturday, 11th January, 2020

A 30-year-old woman was killed and a child was injured in a two-vehicle crash early Saturday on Interstate 90 near Rock Cut State Park.

An eastbound pickup truck ran out of gas in the far right lane of I-90 at milepost 10.50 and was rear-ended by a semitrailer, Illinois State Police said in a news release.

The driver of the pickup, Tanicialle Brown of Cherry Valley, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz said.

A 4-year-old girl who was a passenger in the pickup was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries that are not life-threatening.

The semitrailer driver, Douglas Powell, 48, of Onalaska, Wisconsin, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash, according to police.
