Richland,SC : Driver involved in fatal Richland Co. hit-and-run out on bond on March, Saturday 31th 2018
A 63-year-old is out on bond after being arrested in connection to a deadly hit and run in Richland County that happened on March 29.
Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol arrested. Benjamin Parker, 63, of Gadsden on Friday. Parker was granted bond Saturday morning.
He is accused of driving the car that struck and killed 20-year-old Christa Beatrice Alicia Hudson on South Cedar Creek Road. Troopers say the car used in the hit-and-run was found at a home in Gadsden around 5 p.m. on Friday.
WIS Spoke with Christa's friends, who describe her as the type of person who would give you the shirt off her back.
“I was at work when I saw it and I wanted to cry,” said Mikayla Clifton, a friend of Christa.
Mikayla described Christa as a nice person with a beautiful personality. WIS also spoke with the father of Christa’s daughter, Trey Sullivan, who said he “stayed in the bathroom and cried ”when he found out.
“I pretty much sat down for at least three to five hours," Sullivan said. "I didn’t wanna talk to anyone.”
Parker has been released from the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
At this time, funeral arrangements for Christa have not been announced.
