Seminole County , Fl : Some people killed and injured after Hit-and-run driver crashes into Screened porch and into their bedroom on Tuesday night , February 17th 2015
Altamonte Springs, Florida
Police in Seminole County are looking for a hit-and-run driver who smashed through a couple's screened porch and into their bedroom on Tuesday night.
Police said the car jumped the curb, went through the home's screened porch and into the couple's bedroom at the Waterside at Crane's Roost complex.
Neighbors are disgusted that the driver did not stick around to take responsibility.
"It's really disgusting. They must have had a reason to take off," neighbor Elaine Christy said. "I don't know how they jumped the curb, but they went straight through the sliding glass door, which was shattered. Glass was everywhere."
Christy said the incident was especially frightening since it was dark and rainy.
Below the boarded-up back entrance, the tire tracks are still visible on the screened porch. Police said they are thankful that the hit-and-run happened at around 7:30 p.m. when the couple was in their family room watching TV.
"They were right in the next room over. They saw the headlights coming in to the room," Altamonte Springs Police Cmdr. Dom Carbonaro said. "So it was a pretty scary situation for them."
The incident is part of a regional trend of hit-and-run accidents. Many have involved serious injuries and deaths. Police are appealing to the driver to turn himself or herself in.
