A female passenger on a motorcycle was killed in a crash over the weekend on N.C. 50 near Burgaw.
According to a spokeswoman for the NC State Highway Patrol, Katherine Darlene Faketty, 62, of Rose Hill died Saturday at the scene of the accident which occurred just before 1:20 p.m. about 16 miles east of Burgaw.
She was riding on the back of a motorcycle traveling south when a car in front of the motorcycle stopped to make a left turn into a private drive.
The motorcycle failed to stopped and crashed into the back of the vehicle. The driver of the motorcycle, her husband Michael Terrence Faketty, was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for injuries sustained in the crash. There is no word on his condition.
