Marlborough, NH : Three people seriously injured in a near-head-on collision on Route 124 in Marlborough on Monday evening, Nov 2, 2015

New Hampshire State Police said three people were seriously injured in a near-head-on collision in Marlborough Monday evening.

Police received a report that a serious accident occurred on Route 124 just after 5 p.m.

Police said Ty Newman, 23, was driving a gray 2002 Mercury Sable westbound on Route 124 when he crossed over the center line and into the eastbound travel lane just west of Frost Hill Road.

Newman struck a black 2009 Honda Fit traveling eastbound, driven by Elizabeth Marshall, 55, of Rindge, in a “near-head-on fashion.” Brian Bishoff, 55, of Rindge, was also a passenger in the Honda.

Police said the initial investigation revealed that Newman was impaired by prescription drugs at the time of the crash.

Marshall was flown to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Newman and Bishoff were taken to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Police said Newman was later transferred to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Newman was arrested at the hospital and charged with aggravated driving while under the influence of drugs.

Police said that drugs appear to be a factor in this crash but that the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit are still investigating.
