El Paso, Tx : Police ID people involved in Six-car collision on Saturday March 5 2016
Police on Saturday released the names of the people involved in a six-vehicle collision that included an unmarked police car Friday afternoon near the University of Texas at El Paso.
Police said 17-year-old Aaron Roacho was driving a 1997 Acura 35R with a 16-year-old passenger when he side-swiped a 2003 Hyundai Elantra. Arlene Alcantar, 36, was the driving the Hyundai, police said.
After the crash, the Acura struck a 2009 Ford Fusion driven by Joanna Cangialosi, police said. Cangialosi was driving with her 6-month-old daughter and Annette Martinez, 52.
The collision caused the Fusion to collide with a 2006 Buick Lucerne, driven by Richard Rodriguez, 18, with passenger Delia Rodriguez, 45. The Fusion rotated during the collision, striking a 2001 Nissan Sentra driven by Erika Castro. The unmarked police car, a 2007 Ford Focus driven by El Paso police Officer Nicholas Villalobos, struck the Hyundai from the rear, police said.
As a result of the collision, Martinez, who was the passenger in the Fusion, sustained serious injuries and was transported to University Medical Center of El Paso for treatment. Cangialosi and her infant daughter were also transported to UMC, where they were treated for minor injuries, police said. Villalobos sustained minor injuries and was transported to UMC.
Roacho sustained minor injuries and was transported to Las Palmas Medical Center for treatment. The 16-year-old passenger was not injured, police said.
