Joplin, MO : Several hurt in accidents over weekend on Sunday, February 18th 2017

Three occupants of a car driven by a Goodman man were hurt in an accident Sunday on Route HH, 2 miles east of Neosho, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

According to the patrol report, a vehicle driven by Scott D. Browning, 33, ran off the road, struck an embankment and overturned.

Passengers Derik Batson, 19, of Goodman, and Travis Crowder, 18, of Neosho, suffered serious injuries, and Ashleigh Branum,16, of Neosho, suffered moderate injuries. All three were taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin.

• A 53-year-old Miller man was seriously hurt Sunday in a crash on a farm road south of Miller.

John Hood was transported by air ambulance to a Cox Medical Center South in Springfield. The crash occurred about 9 a.m., according to the state patrol, when a van driven by Harry Peek, 46, Ozark, crossed the centerline and collided with Hood's motorcycle.

• A two-car accident accident on Interstate 49 near Jasper resulted in injuries to a Pittsburg, Kansas, woman on Sunday, the state patrol said.

Tonya Delmont, age unavailable, was northbound in the right lane when her car drove into the left lane and collided with a vehicle driven by Ronald Hall, 70, of Webb City. Demont's vehicle then traveled off the right side of the road, went down a steep embankment and struck a tree. Hall's vehicle traveled off the other side of the road, crossed the median and hit a guardrail.

Delmont was taken to Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.

• A motorcyclist's attempt to miss a deer resulted in injuries late Saturday on Fountain Road west of Joplin, the state patrol said.

Zachary Hitchcock, 22, of Joplin, was driving the motorcycle, which slid off the road after he swerved to avoid the deer, the patrol reported.

Hitchcock and a passenger, Mickie Hitchcock, 42, also of Joplin, were taken to Mercy Hospital in Joplin with moderate injuries.

• An Aurora driver was injured in a one-car accident on Highway 97 north of Pierce City late Saturday.

According to the patrol, the vehicle driven by Kirstie Swisher, 20, ran off the road struck a ditch and overturned. She was taken by ambulance to Cox Hospital in Springfield.

• A Neosho man was seriously injured in a car accident that occurred about 4 a.m. Saturday, half a mile north of Neosho.

Burt Helgen, 21, was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin. Helgen was hurt when his car ran off Kodiak Road, hit several mailboxes and a tree, the patrol said.
