Vancouver, WA : Off-duty assists part of response to I-5 crash in Oregon on Saturday, December 17th 2016
An off-duty captain from the Camas-Washougal Fire Department ended up rendering assistance at a crash scene along southbound Interstate 5 in Woodburn, Ore.
Capt. Michael Brown helped after coming upon the crash, reported at 11:40 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 5 in Woodburn, Ore. According to Woodburn police, a tractor-trailer rig and an SUV collided, killing the SUV’s driver and resulting in three other injuries, including one woman who was trapped in the wreckage.
Brown and an off-duty physician, Dr. Matthew Barrett of Providence Medical Center, assisted Woodburn emergency responders with rescuing and treating the victims, whose identities were not immediately released. The crash closed the freeway temporarily.
The Oregon State Police will handle the investigation.
