BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV : Two boys injured in ATV crash in Morgan County on Saturday, 15th February, 2020
Berkeley Springs, West Virginia
Two 11-year-old boys were injured — one apparently more seriously than the other — when an ATV they were riding flipped Saturday in Morgan County.
One of the boys was flown to a Morgantown hospital and the other was treated at War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, Morgan County Sheriff K.C. Bohrer wrote Monday in a news release.
The incident, which involved a full-size ATV, occurred on private property near the 2800 block of New Hope Road, Bohrer wrote.
The most seriously injured boy was found unresponsive and didn’t appear to be breathing. He was taken to War Memorial Hospital before being flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital, Bohrer wrote.
The other boy told police that he was driving the four-wheel ATV when it hit a bump, which caused the vehicle to flip onto his friend, pinning him beneath it, Bohrer wrote.
Fire, police and emergency-services personnel who responded removed the vehicle from the boy, Bohrer wrote.
The Berkeley Springs Volunteer Fire Co. said in a news release that emergency personnel were dispatched to the incident Saturday at 10:48 a.m.
The fire company said the boy was resuscitated while he was en route to War Memorial Hospital.
