ST. FRANCISVILLE, LA : Sentence handed down to man charged in crash that killed Councilman Buddy Amoroso on Thursday, 10th January 2019

The man accused of hitting and killing former East Baton Rouge Councilman Buddy Amoroso learned his fate Thursday.
Nicholas Alexander, 21, of Lafayette, was sentenced to 90 days, with all but 15 suspended and credit for time served, when he appeared at the West Feliciana Parish Courthouse in St. Francisville. Alexander had served three days in jail when he was arrested, so he has 12 left to serve. Those days are also subject to credit for good time.
Amoroso’s friend, Thomas Clement, was badly injured in the crash.
Alexander was also put on two years active probation, is required to take a driver’s education course, must get his GED, and cannot have contact with either family.
District Attorney Sam D’Aquilla also filed a new charge for negligent injury.
