Michigan State Police have identified the man who was killed in a construction accident at Delta College.
Jason Schwartzly from Saginaw died in the accident on Monday.
Leanna Govitz, a spokesperson for Delta College, said the accident happened at the west parking lot.
Police said a fellow construction worker was dumping stone into a ditch when the excavator he was operating slid into the ditch, striking the 40-year-old and fatally injuring him.
"This is a terrible tragedy that saddens every member of the Delta community," Govitz said. "Our thoughts and prayers go immediately to the family and friends of the worker who lost his life in the accident.”
MIOSHA investigators were on the scene Monday, the investigation continues.
