Philadelphia, PA : Girlfriend of man killed in Glouco crash stole medic's wallet on Sunday, 2nd October 2016
The girlfriend of a man who was fatally struck by car in Gloucester County over the weekend has been charged with stealing the wallet of an emergency medical technician who was providing help at the crash site.
Brittany Carulli, 25, of Pitman, is accused of taking the wallet from the medic's purse inside an ambulance on Sunday morning, Harrison Township police said.
The medic noticed the wallet was missing Sunday afternoon, a few hours after the crash that left Carulli's boyfriend, 27-year-old Jacob Dromgoole, dead.
Dromgoole was struck by a Hyundai Sonata after he got out of his vehicle on Mullica Hill Road near Zee Road and stepped into the street at about 6:45 a.m. He died at the scene.
Carulli had been "allowed to sit in the ambulance in order to grieve the loss of her boyfriend and stay out of the inclement weather," police said in a statement.
In a police interview Monday, Carulli admitted to having taken the wallet, which contained credit and debit cards, a driver's license and cash, authorities said.
Carulli was charged with theft and released pending a hearing in municipal court, police said.
The driver who struck Dromgoole remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. The crash remains under investigation.
