Winnsboro , LA : 30 - Year-old Delhi man died when he stepped out of his truck into the path of a pickup near Louisiana Highway on Monday night , January 12th 2015

State police say a 30-year-old Delhi man died when he stepped out of his truck into the path of a pickup.

The accident happened Monday night on Louisiana Highway 865 near Winnsboro.

Senior Trooper Michael Reichardt says Michael Earl stopped in the lane of travel and exited his vehicle. Reichardt says a pickup driven by 25-year-old Kelly Armstrong of Winnsboro struck Earl. He says Armstrong took evasive action and attempted to avoid striking Earl but was unable to so.

He says Earl was pronounced dead at the scene.
