Utah County, UT : One person injured in Motorcycle-car collision on I-15 in Utah County on Friday, December 5, 2014
Traffic was backed up for roughly six miles on Interstate 15 in Utah County on Friday evening, following a collision between a car and a motorcycle that left one person in critical condition.
The accident occurred about 5:15 p.m. in the northbound travel lanes, Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Todd Royce said.
The driver of the motorcycle was to be transferred to a local hospital by medical helicopter, Royce said.
Royce said investigators were still trying to determine how the collision occurred Friday evening.
The accident investigation and the medical helicopter response had forced the closure of two northbound and two southbound lanes of of the highway, he said.
The accident occurred near 1200 West in Lehi, a post on the Utah Department of Transportation website states. At 6 p.m., traffic was stalled between milepost 282 near Lehi to milepost 276 near American Fork. UDOT estimated the highway delays would last at least an hour.
