Mexico ,MO :25-year-old James M. Bava died after single-vehicle crash Friday , August 28th 2015
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says one of its troopers has died in a crash in northeast Missouri.
The patrol identified the victim as 25-year-old James M. Bava. Cpl. Scott White said in a news release that single-vehicle crash happened after Bava observed a motorcyclist commit a traffic violation in Audrain County. Bava's patrol vehicle was found after he did not respond to radio calls.
Gov. Jay Nixon said in a statement that Bava's death is a "reminder of the dangers that the members of Missouri's law enforcement community face each time they put on their uniforms."
Nixon says flags statewide will fly at half-staff on the day of Bava's funeral. Flags already are being lowered at patrol facilities.
