COVENTRY, RI : Coventry police searching for snowplow in fatal pedestrian accident on Monday, February 13th 2017

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a snowplow in Coventry Monday morning, according to police.

Officials were called to the area of 330 Arnold Road at approximately 12:30 a.m. Monday.

The victim, Matthew O’Gara, 19, of Coventry, was found unconscious at the scene.

He was taken to Kent Hospital with serious injuries, but was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

"They said that I needed to get to the hospital quick because there was an accident. And Matt was hit by a plow," Matthew's mother, Barbara O'Gara told ABC6News.

"I feel like my heart was ripped out of my chest, from the time we were in the hospital last night, until now," said Jeffrey O'Gara, the victim's father.

According to authorities, O'Gara was struck by a northbound vehicle. The vehicle did not stop at the scene.

"He didn't deserve to be left like trash. No one deserves that," said Barbara O'Gara.

The Coventry Police Department is currently looking for a dark-colored pickup truck with an attached plow that is believed to be involved in the fatal pedestrian accident.

Police have surveillance images of the truck involved, and both police and the family of the victim are urging the driver of the truck to immediately come forward to police.
