WOODSBORO, MD : Rockville cyclist dies after crashing into car during fundraising ride at Good Intent Road and Md. 194 on Sunday, 21st July 2019

A Rockville, Md., bicyclist died Sunday after she crashed into a car while participating in the Firefighter 50 bike ride northeast of Woodsboro, Maryland State Police said.

Police responded to the crash at Good Intent Road and Md. 194, also known as Woodsboro Pike, on Sunday at about 9:55 a.m., according to a news release from state police.

Diane Centeno Deshields, 59, of Rockville, was pronounced dead at the scene at about 10:30 a.m., police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that, as Deshields crossed Md. 194, she crashed into a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu heading south on the highway, the release said.

Deshields was participating in a cycling event called the Firefighter 50, the release said.
