Castalia, OH : Man killed in motorcycle accident in Erie County’s Margaretta Township on Friday, August 12, 2016
The Sandusky post of the state Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Friday on Barrett Road east of the Sandusky Bay bridge, in Erie County’s Margaretta Township.
John Edwards, 49 yrs old, of Delaware, Ontario, Canada, was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson Electra Glide motorcycle west on Barrett Road at 7:35 p.m. when he failed to control his motorcycle, troopers said. He was thrown from his motorcycle onto the roadway. Edwards, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation at this time and no other vehicles were involved. Alcohol and excessive speed are considered factors in this crash, troopers said.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Margaretta Township Fire Department and EMS, Erie County Coroner’s Office, Foster’s Towing, Bayview Police Department and Erie County Sheriff’s Office.
