Pittsburgh, PA : Motorcyclist killed in a head-on crash in Mount Washington on Thursday, May 12, 2016
A motorcyclist was killed in a head-on crash in Mount Washington late Thursday.
Police said the accident happened at 11:15 p.m. on Route 51 at Woodruff Street near the Duquesne Heights border. The motorcyclist was traveling inbound on Route 51 when he crossed into oncoming traffic, police said, and struck a sedan. The motorcyclist, whose identity has not yet been released, was ejected from the bike and was propelled into another car. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:31 p.m., according to the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office.
The female driver of the vehicle involved in the initial collision was taken to UPMC Presbyterian in stable condition with minor injuries.
Route 51 was closed at Woodruff Street in both directions for a time while the accident was cleared.
