Los Angeles, CA : 40-year-old father, 6-year-old daughter killed after SUV collided with a delivery truck on a busy Los Angeles freeway on Sunday, Aug 23, 2015

Authorities say a father and his young daughter were killed when their family SUV collided with a delivery truck on a busy Los Angeles freeway.

Fire officials say a mother, father and three children were all in the SUV that got on Interstate 405 in the San Fernando Valley on Sunday, crossed several lanes of traffic and collided with the box truck that was traveling in the far left lane.

The California Highway Patrol says the 40-year-old father died at the scene and his 6-year-old daughter was later declared dead at a hospital.

The mother and two other children were hospitalized along with three people from the truck. All are expected to survive.

The freeway was shut down for an investigation for several hours but all lanes have been reopened.
