Knoxville deputies said a man was under the influence when he crashed his car, killing his 10-year-old son and injuring another 11-year-old boy.
Police pronounced 10-year-old Steven Steelman III of Knoxville dead at the scene near the 4100 block of West Beaver Creek Drive on Sunday afternoon. Deputies said Nathan Lawson, 11, of Knoxville suffered non-life-threatening injuries and went to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.
A Knox County Sheriff's Office release said Steven Steelman Jr. lost control of his car, ran off the road, and hit a telephone pole and a tree.
Deputies charged Steven Steelman Jr. with vehicular homicide, third offense DUI, vehicular assault, driving on a revoked, driving without insurance, and reckless driving
