Aventura, FL :Fatal accident shuts down I-95 northbound for hours on Thursday, July 9th 2015
The northbound lanes of Interstate 95 Thursday have finally reopened hours after a fatal accident involving four vehicles shut down the road for much of the morning.Investigators said the crash happened just after 4 a.m., Thursday, near Ives Dairy Road. Four vehicles were involved in the crash, leaving one person dead after their car burst into flames. Three other passengers were taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening."Speed was a factor, based on the damage to the car and the witnesses," said Florida highway Patrol Trooper Joe Sanchez. "Right now, all that we have is that we have four vehicles. One that is severely damaged. That was the vehicle that the individual lost her life in that vehicle. One vehicle ended up burning at the scene, and right now what we have is I-95 completely shut off and hopefully we will open it as quickly as possible."Several northbound lanes of I-95 had been closed near 103rd Street and Miami Gardens Drive as police investigated. All lanes reopened just after 12:15 p.m.
