Rochester, MN : 55-year-old woman killed in motorcycle crash near Red Wing on Saturday, July 2, 2016

A 55-year-old woman was killed Saturday when the motorcycle she was riding on left the road near Red Wing and struck a sign.

Janean K. Thielman, of Oakdale, died in the crash. The driver, Joseph C. Frisch, 44, of Madelia, suffered serious injuries. He was airlifted to Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the motorcycle was southbound on U.S. Highway 61 near the Welch Short Cut Road at about 3:25 p.m. when it went off the road. Neither Thielman nor Frisch were wearing a helmet.

The Goodhue County Sheriff's Office and Red Wing Fire Department assisted at the scene.
