Waterloo,IA : One dead in Tama semi crash on April, Thursday 5th 2018
One person is dead and another injured in a Thursday morning crash in Tama County involving a semi.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Charlene Rosenfelder, 64, of Tama, died when her Buick Enclave and the Peterbuilt semi collided on Highway 30 near RR Avenue east of town around 9:50 a.m. Thursday.
Paramedics with Belle Plaine Ambulance took semi driver James Novotny, 40, of Belle Plaine, to a hospital in Marshalltown, according to state troopers.
According to the State Patrol, the semi was headed west on Highway 30, and the Buick was traveling east when the semi allegedly crossed the center line onto the eastbound shoulder. The Buick attempted to avoid the collision.
The crash remains under investigation.
Tama County sheriff’s deputies, Tama police and firefighters from Belle Plaine and Chelsey assisted at the scene.
