JERSEY SHORE, PA : JS?man killed in Saturday crash on April, Saturday 22nd 2017

A one vehicle accident claimed the life of a 27 year old Antes Fort man Saturday evening in Piatt Twp. just outside of Jersey Shore.

According to a Tiadaghton Valley Regional Police Department accident report, Zachery Pittenger, 27 was traveling north bound on Route 287 highway around 7:45 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve on the roadway in his 2002 red Ford F150 pick-up truck.

According to the police report, the truck went off of the right side of the roadway at the intersection of Larryville Road and Route 287. There were no skid marks observed by police.

The vehicle traveled off of the shoulder of the road, up an embankment, struck a sign, then struck a utility pole ( which was sheared in half ), the truck then flipped over onto its roof pinning the driver.

Because of the way Pittenger was trapped in the vehicle it was an extensive extraction process, according to the report.

Because of the severity of his injuries Life Flight was called to the scene by police.

According to the report Pittenger was talking to the EMS and fire personnel who were working to extricate him, however once he was loaded into the ambulance he went into full arrest. The Life Flight crew along with the medics performed CPR but after being transported he was pronounced dead at the Jersey Shore Hospital.

There were no other vehicles involved in the accident and Pittenger was the only occupant in the vehicle.

The report states that there were no witnesses to the accident.
