Authorities identify Helena man killed while blowing leaves
Authorities today released the identity of a man killed Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by a pickup truck on Laurel Lakes Drive in Helena.The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Dutton Craig Bonnell, 60. The accident happened just after 4 p.m. on Laurel Lakes Drive.Authorities said Bonnell, who lived on nearby South Shades Crest Road, was blowing leaves when he was struck. The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado truck told lawmen she was temporarily blinded by sunlight when she struck Bonnell. She said didn't know what she had hit until she stopped her vehicle and got out.Helena police and firefighters responded the Laurel Lakes subdivision. Efforts to revive Dutton were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead on the scene.Authorities said the accident is under investigation.
