Solon, OH : Twinsburg man died and Oakwood Village man injured after car hits gas line, utility pole in Solon Road early Wednesday morning, December 2, 2015
One man is dead after a car crash that resulted in a gas leak on Solon Road early Wednesday morning.
According to Solon Police, the crash occurred around 1:32 a.m. on Solon Road, between Hawthorn Parkway and Richmond Road.
Two men, both 25 years old, were traveling in a 2001 Buick Century. The car went off the right side of the road and struck an above-ground gas line and a utility pole.
The driver, who police say is a Twinsburg resident, died at the scene.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office has now identified the driver of the 2001 Buick Century who was killed Wednesday’s accident as Edward P Hughes Jr.
The passenger, an Oakwood Village resident, was taken to a hospital for treatment with unknown injuries.
Solon Road was closed from 1:47 a.m. to 6:07 a.m. while the crash was investigated and the gas line was repaired.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
