One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Gulfport.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Cpl. Benjamin Seibert said the accident happened late Saturday night when a car rear-ended a pickup on U.S. 49, just north of West Wortham Road.

Seibert tells The Sun Herald the driver of the car then lost control, went into the median and the vehicle overturned.

He says the driver wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said 28-year-old Trisha Wallace, of Saucier, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Seibert says the driver of the pickup, 65-year-old Jesse Bryant Helveston, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash.
