Oregon City man in critical condition after motorcycle crash

An Oregon City man remained in critical condition Monday with injuries suffered in a high-speed motorcycle crash.
Gary Joseph Petrina, 58, was in the intensive-care unit at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center.
Lt. Greg Fryett, an Oregon City Police Department spokesman, said Petrina was riding his motorcycle south on Molalla Avenue around 5:50 p.m. Saturday, when he apparently lost control, jumped a curb and crashed into a wooden fence near Sebastian Way.
Petrina was thrown from the motorcycle and landed on his head. He was unconscious when police arrived and was rushed to the hospital by Lifeflight by helicopter ambulance.
Fryett said witnesses told investigating officers that Petrina was riding an estimated 50 to 70 mph in an area posted with a 35 mph speed limit when he crashed.
