Christiana, WI : 66-year-old Fort Atkinson woman died in a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 12 in Dane County on Monday, Nov 9, 2015

A 66-year-old Fort Atkinson woman died Monday in a head-on crash in Dane County, the Sheriff's Office said.

The crash was reported shortly before 2 p.m. on U.S. Highway 12 near Clear View Road in the Town of Christiana, according to a news release from the Dane County Sheriff's Office.

According to the release, the woman was eastbound when the vehicle she was driving crossed the centerline and was struck head-on by a westbound semitrailer truck.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, and the driver of the semi, a 38-year-old Kenosha man, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, according to the release.

The crash remained under investigation, however speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors, according to Sheriff's Office.
