Logansport, IN : 4 injured in Heartland crash on Saturday, December 24th 2016
Four people were injured, one severely, in a two-vehicle highway crash south of Logansport Saturday afternoon, according to a Cass County Sheriff's deputy.
First responders were dispatched at 5:02 p.m. Dec. 24 to the part of the Hoosier Heartland Highway known as the Tyson Exchange.
Cass County Sheriff's Deputy Brad Craven said Andrew R. Force, 62, Mishawaka, was westbound on a ramp driving a red 2013 Ford C-Max and disregarded a stop sign before crossing U.S. 35.
Angela D. Leonard, 26, Monticello, was driving south on U.S. 35 in a white 2009 Dodge Caravan and struck the C-Max's passenger side, Craven said.
John G. Leonard, 59, Monticello, was in the backseat on the passenger side of the Caravan and suffered a severe laceration to the back of his head and a broken thigh bone, according to Craven.
Pearl E. Leonard, 85, Monticello, was a front-seat passenger in the Caravan and reported chest pain, Craven said, adding Angela Leonard reported ankle pain.
Craven said John C. Leonard, 24, Monticello, was in the backseat on the driver side of the Caravan and did not report any pain.
Jennifer Force, 58, Mishawaka, was a front-seat passenger in the C-Max and reported head pain, Craven said, adding Andrew Force did not report any pain.
Three Prompt Ambulance Central ambulances transported patients from the scene to Logansport Memorial Hospital, according to Craven.
The Caravan came to rest in the intersection after spinning nearly 180 degrees while the C-Max went off the west side of U.S. 35 facing south under an overpass.
