Flagger County, FL: Students were minorly injured and driver was critically injured after Schoolbus slammed into car on Friday , January 9th 2015
Multiple injuries were reported after a school bus carrying 47 students slammed into a car Friday in Flagler County.
The crash happened on White View Parkway and Ravenwood Drive in Palm Coast.
Deputy Paula Priester, of the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, said the bus was headed to Buddy Taylor Middle School.
A Mitsubishi crashed into a Mazda, which then hit the school bus, authorities said.
"The Mazda was pushed into oncoming traffic as it rotated," said FHP Trooper Christopher Conrad.
The driver of the Mazda is in critical condition, while some children suffered minor injuries.
"I'd like to commend all the students this morning. They showed exceptional leadership skills in handling this situation. They were very calm," Flagler County School Superintendent Jacob Oliva said.
Authorities said 25 students were checked out at a hospital as a precaution after being taken there by another bus. Seven students were transported by ambulances.
Authorities said 12 students and the bus driver have been released from the hospital.
The names of those involved have not been released.
