An 82-year-old woman died Sunday night in a two-car collision near Lemoore Naval Air Station on Highway 198, the California Highway Patrol reported.

About 6:45 p.m., Royce Tello, 28, of Los Angeles was eastbound on Highway 198 in a Mazda 6 approaching Dorris Avenue at about 15 mph. He made a U-turn into the path of a Nissan Versa driven Estella Valezquez, 65, of Huron, the CHP said. The Nissan slammed into the left side of the Mazda.

The 82-year-old died at the scene. Tello sustained major injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, as did Velazquez. Araceli Velasquez, 45, of Lemoore, a passenger in the Nissan, was also taken to CRMC with major injuries.

Three other passengers in the Mazda and one in the Nissan also went to Community Regional with less serious injuries.
