Lee's Summit, MO : 13 injured in school bus crash near Lee's Summit West High School on Monday afternoon, October 20, 2014

Police in suburban Kansas City say one girl suffered serious injuries and 12 others had minor injuries after a collision involving a school bus carrying a high school volleyball team. The accident happened around 4:15 p.m. Monday near Lee's Summit West High School, where the team from Raymore-Peculiar High School was scheduled to play in a tournament. Police said 20 girls and the driver were aboard the bus. The driver told investigators he missed a turn and was trying to make a U-turn when the bus was hit by a flat-bed truck. The bus remained upright. Both drivers refused medical treatment. Ambulances took 13 of the girls to six hospitals.
