ZEPHYRHILLS, FL : 3 killed in head-on crash in Florida on Sunday, 19th August 2018

The Florida Highway Patrol says three people died in a head-on crash north of Tampa.


Troopers say the crash happened Sunday evening on County Road 54 when 30-year-old Elvin Benitez tried to pass other traffic on the two-lane road.


He hit a car driven by 38-year-old Dennis Wilkes of Lakeland. Wilkes and his 27-year-old passenger Chrisstina Farmer of Winter Haven were killed. Benitez was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene.
