Colorado Springs ,CO : Four transported to hospital following crash on North Nevada Ave on Sunday night ,July 12th 2015

Four people were taken by ambulance to area hospitals after a crash on northbound North Nevada Avenue at East Jackson Street in Colorado Springs.

Residents in the area reported a loud boom-like sound around 9:30 p.m. that alerted them to the two-vehicle crash.

"When I heard the boom I came running out here," said neighbor Rob Grimes.

Onlookers said a silver sedan traveling west on East Jackson Street was attempting to make a lefthand turn onto southbound Nevada Avenue when a Chevrolet Corvette, reportedly traveling at a high speed, ran the traffic light and hit the sedan, causing the sedan to split into two pieces.

Immediately following the crash, bystanders said they saw a boy, about 11 years old, coherent and talking in the back of the torn-apart sedan, and an adult draped over him, also coherent.
