An Upstate road was blocked after a car crashed into a utility pole Thursday afternoon, South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers said.

A WYFF News 4 crew sent pictures of a crashed vehicle just past the railroad tracks at Artillery Road off Rutherford Road, west of Stallings Road in Taylors.

The crash was reported just after 3 p.m., according to the Highway Patrol website.

The 2008 Ford SUV was badly damaged in the wreck.

The vehicle was headed north on Rutherford Road when the driver ran off the right side of the road and hit the pole, troopers said.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt, was injured in the crash, and was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital, troopers said.

A fire truck was initially parked sideways and emergency cones were set up on Rutherford Road at Donnan Road to block traffic in both directions.
