Felton, DE : Man struck, killed by off-duty police officer in Delaware early Saturday, December 3, 2016
Police say a 32-year-old Pennsylvania man was killed when he was hit by a car driven by an off-duty police officer in Delaware.
Delaware State Police say Christopher Thompson of Coatesville, Pennsylvania was driving a pick-up truck that was pulling a 30-foot box trailer when he pulled onto the right hand shoulder to address a mechanical problem early Saturday. Police say part of the trailer remained in the travel lane.
Police say Thompson was standing in the road’s eastbound lane after placing a floor jack under one of the trailer’s tires when he was hit by an SUV driven by the off-duty Harrington Police Officer.
Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say they will not immediately release the name of the Harrington officer.
