Cherryvale, KS : Man killed in two-vehicle crash in Montgomery County in southeast Kansas on Monday afternoon, April 18, 2016
A man was killed Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Montgomery County in southeast Kansas.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 3:40 p.m. at the junction of US-169 and US-160 highways, about 5 miles south of Cherryvale.
The patrol’s crash log indicated a 2008 Ford Explorer Sport that was traveling east on US-160 failed to stop at a stop sign, colliding with 2012 Peterbilt semi-trailer that was headed south on US-169.
The driver of the Explorer, identified as Earl E. Wooldridge, 62, of Cherryvale, was taken to Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, where he later died. Wooldridge was wearing a seat belt.
The semi’s driver, Derik Kane Blakely, 25, of Platte City, Mo., was reported uninjured. The patrol said Blakely was wearing a seat belt.
The crash marked the second time in two days that a Kansas driver was killed when a passenger vehicle collided with a semi.
On Sunday afternoon, the passenger in a Hyundai Elantra was killed when the car he was in collided with a semi in Ford County in southwest Kansas.
