A 58-year-old man died Saturday evening after his car crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with another vehicle in Damascus.

William D. Isakson's eastbound Toyota Corolla struck a Honda Accord on Oregon Route 212 just east of Southeast Tong Road, police say. Isakson, from Boring, died at the scene.

Aurelio M. Lopez Gomez, 49 and from Salem, was the driver of the Accord. He received non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to a local hospital.

The Oregon State Police closed down Route 212 for four hours Saturday night as multiple law-enforcement agencies investigated the accident. The reason Isakson's car drove into the westbound lane is still being determined.
