Claiborne Parish, LA : Two people dead after a car crash on Louisiana Highway 3062 Saturday night, January 2, 2016

Two people are dead after a car crash in Claiborne Parish late Saturday night.

Louisiana State Police say it happened at 11:18 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 3062, just west of US Highway 79 Bypass.

Police say 24-year-old Max Waganer of Shongaloo and 24-year-old Erin Guzy of Mesquite, TX were heading eastbound on LA 3062 in a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe.

According to Louisiana State Police, Waganer exited the right side of the roadway, overturned, and struck a tree.

Waganer and Guzy were reportedly not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Both died as result of their injuries.

A toxicology sample was obtained from Waganer and will be submitted for analysis. Speed is suspected to be a factor in this crash.

The crash is still under investigation.
