Salem, NH : 57-year-old Billerica man injured in tracter-trailer crash Interstate 93 in Salem on Wednesday March 2 2016
A 57-year-old Billerica man was treated for what police described as a minor head injury after a tractor-trailer he was driving was struck by another vehicle and rolled over on Interstate 93 in Salem Wednesday morning.
New Hampshire State Police said in a press release that they were called to the southbound lanes of the interstate at the ramp to Pelham Road about 10:49 a.m., for a report a crash.
State police say Matthew Torbin, 21, of Derry, N.H., was driving a 2002 Nissan Sentra onto the highway from an on-ramp when the Sentra struck the passenger side of a 2012 Freightliner flatbed truck driven by John Pothier.
The impact caused Pothier to lose control of the truck, which rolled over across four of the highway's travel lanes.
Salem firefighters had to extricate Torbin from his car before he was taken to Lawrence General Hospital for treatment of what police described as serious but non life-threatening injuries.
The southbound lanes of the highway were closed for about 2 hours as the crash scene was cleaned up with help from crews from the Department of Transportation, according to police.
