Escondido ,CA : suspected drunken driver injured after crashing her car into a concrete bridge support near Key Lime Way on Sunday night , March 15th 2015

A suspected drunken driver is in the hospital Sunday night after crashing her car into a concrete bridge support in Escondido.

The crash happened around 6:30 a.m Sunday morning on east El Norte Parkway near Key Lime Way.

Officers say Amanda Bauer may have fallen asleep at the wheel of her white Chevy Malibu before she crashed. The 24-year-old was not wearing a seat belt and sustained serious injuries to her head and right leg in the accident.

First responders found several open bottles of liquor in the passenger side of the car.

Police say Bauer had been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving once before and was driving on a suspended license.
