A 6-year-old girl is dead after a Pike County crash Monday afternoon.
The incident happened about 3:30 p.m. near mile marker 52 on Interstate 84, when a Toyota Camry driven by Tammy Mathisen, 44, of Lackawaxen, collided with a Ford Freestyle that was stopped due to construction, according to state police at Blooming Grove. A 6-year-old girl in the back seat of the Toyota was later declared dead at Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis, New York. The drivers of both vehicles suffered moderate injuries, police said. Two passengers in the Ford, including a 2-month-old boy, were unharmed.
State police said the 6-year-old girl was not wearing a restraint. The crash is still under investigation.
