Torrington, WY : Two injured in Tuesday accident on Tuesday, December 20th 2016
Officials have released the names of the couple involved in the accident east of Torrington on Tuesday night.
Trooper Travis Houser of the Wyoming Highway Patrol identified the couple as Jack and Beva Sauder, both 90, of Torrington. As of Wednesday afternoon, the Sauder's remained in the intensive care unit of a Cheyenne hospital.
TORRINGTON – A Torrington couple remained hospitalized in Cheyenne on Wednesday following a two-vehicle accident Tuesday evening east of town.
Wyoming Highway Patrol spokesperson Trooper Travis Hauser said a semi, driven by Jeremy Hoagland of Torrington, was stopped on U.S. Hwy. 26 shortly after 5 p.m. about two miles east of Torrington, while waiting to turn south onto a county road. The semi was struck from behind by a 2006 Lexus.
Hauser said the male driver was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown into the windshield. The female passenger, his wife, was wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident, Hauser said.
The couple were taken to Community Hospital in Torrington and later flown by life-flight helicopter to a Cheyenne hospital. No report on their condition was immediately available Wednesday.
Hauser said the semi driver, Hoagland, was cited for not wearing his seat belt. Hoagland was not injured. Citations are pending against the driver of the Lexus for following too close and for not wearing a seat belt.
