An 89-year-old Tarnov, Nebraska, man died and his wife and another person were injured Thursday in a two-vehicle crash about 20 miles north of Columbus.

Gervin Kudron died in the crash around 1:25 p.m. just east of Humphrey at the U.S. Highway 81 and Nebraska Highway 91 intersection, the Platte County Sheriff’s Office said.

Kudron was westbound on Highway 91, which was under construction, in a 1995 Buick Riviera. His car entered the intersection and was struck by a vehicle headed north on Highway 81, the Sheriff’s Office said. Kudron was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the Riviera, Kudron’s wife, Joyce, 84, was injured and taken to Columbus Community Hospital. Friday, a spokeswoman said Joyce Kudron was not listed as a patient at the hospital.
The Kudrons were celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Gina Hamilton, 27, of Lincoln was driving the northbound vehicle, a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, on Highway 81, officials said. She was injured and taken to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, where she was treated and later released.

All three people involved in the crash were using seat belts, the Sheriff’s Office said, and the Jeep’s airbags deployed.
