Pasco County, FL : Wrong-way driver arrested for DUI in Pasco on Monday evening, January 5, 2015

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper stopped a wrong-way driver on US Highway 19 in New Port Richey Monday evening, according to the FHP report.

Trooper Dolan was patrolling southbound US 19 when he saw a silver Dodge pick-up going north in the southbound lanes. The pick-up was approaching Marine Parkway intersection head-on when the trooper pulled the driver over, narrowly avoiding being hit by the truck.

According to FHP, the driver Wade Monroe McKinney, 48, of Brooksville, was taken to the Pasco County Jail on DUI and wrong-way driving charges.

Troopers said McKinney was going the wrong way for about a quarter mile on US 19.
