Austin, TX : One person killed and one injured in single-vehicle crash into utility pole off of Ponciana Drive in Travis County on Wednesday morning, March 30, 2016

Police are investigating a deadly car crash in South Austin that happened just after midnight Wednesday morning.

Police said a car was driving southbound on Ponciana Drive near Interstate 35 and Stassney Lane when the driver lost control and ran into a telephone pole.

The passenger -- a 19-year-old man -- was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver -- a man in his 20s -- was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with serious injuries.

The driver is expected to live, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.
