Four die in tragic two-car accident near Wyandotte,Oklahoma
Four people died in a tragic two-car accident at 4:19 p.m., Nov. 25, on U.S. Highway 60, three miles east of Wyandotte.According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports, Willis George, Jr., 39, of Webb City, Mo., was traveling eastbound on U.S. 60 when his 2003 Ford Mustang went left of center and hit a 2000 Ford Ranger pickup driven by Spencer Anderson, 22, of Fairland. George was pronounced dead at the scene, with massive injuries, after being pinned in his vehicle for one hour and 30 minutes.Anderson was transported by Eagle Med Air Ambulance to Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo., with head, arm and leg injuries. He was treated and released.
Anderson’s passenger, Samantha Delamatter, 19 of Fairland, was pronounced dead at the scene, from massive injuries, after being pinned in the vehicle for one hour and 20 minutes.George’s vehicle carried three other passengers, two of whom died from their injuries.Drake Cobb, 14, and Syrrena Sanderson, 13, of Garland, Texas, were both pronounced dead at the scene, from massive injuries, after being pinned in the vehicle for one hour and 30 minutes.
The third passenger, Maryssa Sanderson, 7, of Garland, Texas, was transported by Eagle-Med Air Ambulance to Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Mo., with head, trunk, internal and leg injuries and is in serious condition.
According to OHP Trooper Roy Parker’s report, George, Cobb and Anderson were using seat belts. Syrrena and Maryssa Sanderson and Delamatter were not using seatbelts.Conditions at the time of the accident are reported to be clear and dry. Unofficial reports indicate that driver fatigue may have factored into the accident.An immediate outpouring of support and condolences for all involved came from all over the community.
