Leitchfield, KY : Two injured in parkway wreck on Thursday afternoon, March 9, 2017

Two Murray State University students were injured in a car accident on the Western Kentucky Parkway on Thursday afternoon, March 9.

At around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Leitchfield Police and Fire Departments, and Grayson County EMS responded to the accident near the 102 mile marker of the Western Kentucky Parkway (the parkway).

Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins, who investigated the accident, said the crash came about after the driver of a black Oldsmobile Cutlass lost control of the vehicle, and it went underneath a semi tractor trailer.

The Oldsmobile, which had been travelling east, came to a rest in the median of the parkway just before the 102 mile marker.

Two Murray State University students, whose identities have not yet been released, were inside the Oldsmobile at the time of the crash and were transported from the scene by Grayson County EMS to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, Chaffins said.

The driver of the semi, whose name has also not yet been released, was not reported injured.

No other details relating to the accident were available at the scene.

The Oldsmobile was disabled as a result of the crash and was towed from the scene by Donnie King’s Auto Sales & Service.
